Mercedes-Benz Collector Guide
The Mercedes-Benz cars of the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s were engineered to a standard the company has rarely matched since, and clean, low-mile examples have become some of the most sought-after modern classics. Collectors want the right car: original, well kept, documented and, above all, low in miles.
Reimel Motor Cars buys and consigns these cars every month, AMG or not, from R107 SLs and W126 S-Class coupes to the W124 500E, the supercharged and V12 AMG cars of the 2000s and today's G-Wagens. These guides cover each generation: what it is, what separates a great one from an ordinary one, and what a serious buyer checks first.

Which classic Mercedes-Benz models are most collectible?
Among the 1980s to 2000s cars, the most sought after include the R107 560SL, the W124 500E and E500, the W126 560SEC coupe, the R129 SL600 and AMG SLs, the W140 S600 and CL600, the W210 E55 AMG and the W220 S55 and S65 AMG. Low-mile, original, well-documented examples of any of these bring the strongest money.
Does mileage really matter that much on an older Mercedes?
Yes. These cars were built to cover huge mileage, so most survivors have. The rare low-mile car, with records to prove it, is what collectors compete for, and it is usually worth a substantial premium over an average example.
Do you only buy AMG models?
No. Reimel Motor Cars buys and consigns non-AMG cars too: a low-mile 1998 S-Class, a 2000 SL500 or an E320 Cabriolet is just as welcome as an AMG. What matters most is low miles, condition and records.
Should I sell my Mercedes outright or consign it?
It depends on the car and your timeline. Selling outright is fast and certain. Consigning, including a managed Bring a Trailer auction, usually nets more for the best cars. We'll tell you plainly which route should net you the most after a free valuation.
Where is Reimel Motor Cars and do you buy cars outside Pennsylvania?
We're in Wayne, Pennsylvania, on the Philadelphia Main Line, and we buy and consign cars from across the country, arranging enclosed transport.
