Same paint, $25,000 apart: why our Roma sold and a newer one didn't
A week before our 1,000-mile 2023 Ferrari Roma sold on Bring a Trailer for $212,500, a newer 2024 Roma in the same Rosso Fiorano paint was bid to $187,500 and went home unsold. The difference came down to the things a buyer at this level pays for.
On October 19, a 2024 Ferrari Roma in Rosso Fiorano came up on Bring a Trailer. It was a year newer than ours, a nice car with 4,600 miles, and it was bid to $187,500 and went home unsold. Seven days later our 2023 Roma, in the same Rosso Fiorano, sold for $212,500.
Same model, same paint, one week apart, and the older car brought $25,000 more. Here’s why.
The interior
The 2024 car was Rosso Fiorano over Nero. Ours was Rosso Fiorano over Cuoio, the warm tan leather Ferrari has used for decades. Black works with anything. Cuoio with a deep historical red is the combination people stop and look at, and it photographs the way a Ferrari should. When someone is spending more than $200,000 on a car they’re going to drive, the cabin they sit in every time matters, and the bidding showed it.
The warranty
Ours was still under Ferrari’s factory warranty, with an extended warranty on top. For a modern Ferrari that is real money and real peace of mind: the buyer isn’t taking on the cost of a turbocharged V8 and a dual-clutch gearbox out of pocket. It turns a used Ferrari into something close to a new one.
The miles and the history
Ours had 1,000 miles and one owner, who bought it new. It came with the ADAS Full Pack, carbon-ceramic brakes, MagneRide suspension and a surround-view camera, plus its service records, a clean Carfax and a Pennsylvania title. The 2024 car had 4,600 miles. Both were nice cars. Ours left bidders less to wonder about.
Who was selling it
The 2024 car was a private-party listing. Ours was listed by us, a Bring a Trailer Local Partner. That means a full professional photo set, a listing written around what buyers of this car care about, and a dealer standing behind the sale and answering every question in the comments. At this price, bidders want to know who they’re buying from, and that confidence shows up in the final number.
The auction
7,398 views, 851 watchers, 43 comments and 62 bids. The reserve was met and the auction closed on Monday, October 26 at $212,500.
Result
$212,500Sold October 26, 2026 · Reserve met · Bring a Trailer lot #270545What the number means
$212,500 puts this car in the upper half of the year’s Roma coupe results. It is above the 2022s that sold for $180,000 and $203,000 and the 2023 that brought $188,500 in April, and below the 887-mile 2024 that brought $243,000 in September. A 2024 is supposed to be worth more than a 2023. This week the market said the right car is worth more than the right year.
If you own one
At this level, buyers pay for the whole package: the color combination, the warranty, the miles, the paperwork and who is selling it. If you have a Roma, a Portofino or anything else you’ve been thinking about selling, we’ll tell you where it fits in the market and what we think it will bring. We’re a Bring a Trailer Local Partner and we handle everything from photography to the last comment.
