Description

1951 Packard 300 Sedan — Original Black Exterior, Freshly Redone Interior

Packard's 1951 range was the first to wear John Reinhart's new bodywork, and the 300 sat near the top of it — a senior car on a 127-inch wheelbase, powered by the 327ci L-head straight-eight and fitted with Ultramatic Drive, the automatic Packard developed in-house rather than buying in from one of the Big Three. Just over 15,000 were built for 1951, and survivors in honest, unmolested condition are getting hard to find.

This one is black over gray. The exterior is remarkably original — the paint and brightwork have never been restored, so the car still reads the way it was built, with the kind of honest surface that cannot be put back once it is gone. The interior is the other half of the story: it has been completely redone, so you get fresh seats and trim inside an unrestored shell.

The car had been parked for several years before we bought it. We sent it to D'Antonio Automotive in West Chester, Pennsylvania to get it running— fluids throughout and the sorting needed to get the straight-eight running and driving properly again — and it came back to us in October 2026. The service invoices go with the car.
